Vasco M. Carvalho is Professor of Macroeconomics at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge and the Director of the Janeway Institute. He is also a Turing Fellow at the UK's Alan Turing Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, a Research Fellow at CEPR and a fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge. Having gained his PhD at the University of Chicago in 2008, he was a Junior Researcher at CREI in Barcelona and Affiliated Assistant Professor at University Pompeu Fabra before joining the University of Cambridge in 2013. His work on production networks was awarded the 2014 Wiley Prize in Economics by the British Academy for "achievement in research by an outstanding early career economist" and multiple awards from the European Research Council (ERC), the Leverhulme Prize Fellowship, and the Sloan Foundation.
