From August 2 to 10, 2024, the "2024 Global Value Chain Summer Workshop," co-hosted by the Global Value Chain Institute of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Asia Global Institute of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), was successfully held at UIBE.

The "Global Value Chain Summer Workshop" was initiated by UIBE in 2014. It is the only annual workshop in China and abroad that brings together globally renowned experts, targets graduate students and young scholars, and focuses on cutting-edge research and hot topics in the field of global value chains. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the workshop and its first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic, making it a significant and hard-won achievement.
The workshop and international conference were conducted entirely in English. Centered on the new trends and major restructuring of global value chain activities amid unprecedented global changes, the event featured lectures by distinguished scholars and experts from prestigious institutions such as the WTO, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Columbia University, the University of Chicago, the University of Oxford, the Australian National University, American University, Dartmouth College, Yale University, Waseda University, the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), the University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, and other leading universities and international organizations. The faculty lineup was internationally top-tier. Over 100 participants from various universities gathered to attend lectures, actively pose questions, and engage in lively discussions. Meanwhile, the 10th Anniversary International Conference attracted tens of thousands of online viewers via live stream. The workshop and conference provided a high-level platform for academic exchange, earning unanimous praise from both the faculty and participants.
