December 11, 2025, Beijing – The "Global Value Chain Development Report 2025" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was officially launched at a successful release ceremony held at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). The Report was jointly compiled by UIBE, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The "Global Value Chain Development Report" is the only series of its kind that systematically explores the theories, practices, and policies related to global value chains (GVCs). Published biennially since 2017, each edition focuses on cutting-edge dynamics and hot topics in the field.
Under the theme "Reshaping Global Value Chains in a Changing World Economy," the Report delves into how, despite multiple shocks, GVCs have not disintegrated. Instead, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience and are transforming at an unprecedented pace towards digitalization, regionalization, and sustainable development. This strategic restructuring is profoundly reshaping the global economic competitive landscape.
The ceremony was presided over by Huang Wei, Vice President of UIBE. In opening address, UIBE President Zhao Zhongxiu noted that the Report's release is timely, providing a robust response to current discussions on "de-globalization." He emphasized that global value chains are not receding but are entering a phase of structural reconfiguration characterized by "re-globalization."

Professor Robert Koopman, Editor-in-Chief of the Report, expressed gratitude to the UIBE Institute of Global Value Chains for its vital contributions and sustained support throughout the compilation process and provided an overview of the Report's content.
